Sweet Life

You say sweet is something you see
Flowers as gifts
Kisses on cheeks

Carnival prizes big and bold
A longing stare
Hands enfold

But sweet is more than what you see
More than feelings between you and me

Deep
Embodied
Souls as one
Oh yes
Like a setting sun.

Rising moons
Beating hearts
Secret lagoons
Long walks after dark

Silent gestures
Between two lovers
Hide in the bed
Pull up the covers
A knowing
A whisper
A moment like these
Oh how sweet one’s life can be
